Information about Snow Patrol
Snow Patrol's got a lot of folks to thank for their overnight success, but they owe their greatest gratitude to primetime television. These five skinny Irish/Scottish guys with sad emo eyes and wispy hair shot to fame when their song "Chasing Cars" - a steady swelling rock ballad brimming with bittersweetness - appeared in the dramatic last five minutes of the Season 2 Finale of Grey's Anatomy, at the time boasting 19.9 million viewers. Known to many avid watchers as the show that featured lesser-known but very talented musical acts, it was not a surprise that shortly after the episode, viewers frantically tried to look up the band, thus propelling Snow Patrol to the top of radio playlists in no time.
"Chasing Cars" also appeared on the season finale of One Tree Hill and solidified Snow Patrol's place as one of the top bands in the UK and the US. Their latest album release "Eyes Open" hit the U.K. and Ireland's charts at #1 and the U.S. charts at #27. Another single, "Signal Fire", contributed to the Spiderman 3 Soundtrack and placed on Billboards Hot 100. With a full 2007 touring season, it seems like Snow Patrol is a young indie band that has quickly been placed alongside the ranks of some of the hottest powerpop bands in the mainstream today.
