Flaming Lips Tickets, Schedule and Info
The Flaming Lips are an indie sensation. Their music envelopes the listener like a friendly but threatening cacophony emitted from a dark and swooning cavern filled with electronic clouds and tendrils of guitar/keyboard massages. Tickets to Flaming Lips shows are like tickets to another dimension. The overall effect is one of intense hypnotizing paralysis, with much focus on the interesting and often ingenious lyrics and concepts of which their songs and albums are made.
The Lips initially recorded several albums on an indie label in the 1980s and early 1990s before being signed to Warner Brothers. They subsequently hit recognition level quality in 1993 with "She Don’t Use Jelly", their only hit single in the U.S. 2002’s Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots was a masterpiece, and the Flaming Lips surely deserved the international fame they enjoyed from this alarmingly mature and accomplshed concept album. The Lips have had more hit singles in the UK and Europe than in the U.S, a testament to their differentness, if you will.

In 2002, Q magazine named The Flaming Lips one of the "50 Bands to See Before You Die". Their shows are famed for the use of visual aids, and animal suits. it is often remarked that one experiences pseudo-memories of a previous alien abduction, due to the ethereal and intense nature of the props used above the stage. The masterminds behind this are currently:
Wayne Coyne – lead vocals, guitars, piano
Michael Ivins – bass guitar, piano, occasional vocals
Steven Drozd – drums, guitars, bass guitar keyboards/synthesizers, backing vocals, most other instruments
Kliph Scurlock - drums (Live performances only)
