Arcade Fire is a much-respected indie rock band from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The band formed in 2003 by the husband and wife team Win Butler and Régine Chassagne. Arcade Fire's trademark rich sound, which moves like a group statement or an anthem, is revered for its greatly variable instrumentation, the larger-sized arrangements being realized due to its being much more than a simple rock band. Their first CD, Funeral, received critical acclaim, and they became one of the star indie bands of 2004 and 2005. Suddenly Arcade Fire tickets were in demand, and people were scanning the music rags for news of an Arcade Fire tour. Voted Album of the Year in the UK by Uncut magazine, Funeral was listed second in both NME's and Mojo magazine's Album of the Year list. 2007's Neon Bible was similarly received, and Arcade Fire are riding high as one of the indie bands to watch right now.
