Information about the Stars

The band name alone makes it sound light and fun. Stars is an indie pop band from Canada. It started in Toronto, relocated to NYC, and then headed to Montreal. Upbeat and richly layered with different instrumentation, Stars is a 5-member band with two vocalists Torquil Campbell and Amy Millan, a bassist Evan Cranley, keyboardist Chris Seligman, and drummer Pat McGee.

Stars launched to success with their breakthrough single "Ageless Beauty" in 2004 off their album Set Yourself on Fire. On fire indeed. The band, relatively young, having been founded in 2001, is comprised by seasoned musicians, yet their songs were featured on television shows aimed for teens, such as The O.C. and Degrassi: The Next Generation. Infused with a little bit of electronica and a little bit of the 60s Beatles-like vocal harmonies, Stars energy will not escape the listener. Recently, lead singer Campbell made headlines by posting a heated attack on Pitchforkmedia.com after the review site gave a 7.4 out of 10 on their latest album.
