Islands, formerly the Unicorns, are an indie rock band playing out of Montreal, Quebec Canada. Their music features a mix of dancehall beats and deep feeling sounds. As a contrast, there are calypso beats, and other tropical rhythms, and they have toured extensively through the USA and Canada. They are currently signed to Equator Records.
Islands recently toured Iceland and the United States and Canada. The band has performed covers of the Kinks' anthemic "Waterloo Sunset" and even Bobby Pickett's "Monster Mash." The next album is purported to be darker and more serious, possibly with a heavier sound, reflecting recent influences from monster rockers T-Rex. Islands concert tickets are always worth it, just to see what the band has done this time around.
