Information about Iron & Wine

Iron & Wine is the stage name for folk rock guitarist/singer Sam Beam. Compared to acts like Neil Young, Nick Drake, and Simon and Garfunkel, Iron & Wine features banjos and slide guitars, and dark southern country folk themes. A lot of his music is politically driven, as are some of the most prolific artists of our time.

Sam Beam has used his sister Sarah Beam in backing vocals for many of his albums. His latest album The Shepherd's Dog was released with Sub Pop records, who also released work by The Shins. Beam is talented on many fronts and has a strong interest in making films and music videos. For a time, he was a professor of Film and Cinematography at Miami International University of Art & Design.
