Information about Grizzly Bear.

Grizzly Bear is Daniel Rossen (songwriting/guitar), Ed Droste (songwriting/guitar), Chris Taylor (clarinet) and Christopher Bear (drums). Chris Taylor also functions in a production capacity. The band utilizes both earthy and space-age electronic instruments, using instruments as diverse as a recorder and a computer, and all four members sing or provide lyrical input. Rossen also plays with the indie duo Department of Eagles.

Their 2004 debut album, Horn of Plenty, contains multitudinous sounds and levels of vocals. It was initially a solo work of Droste which predates the band. The sound has been tagged art rock and indie rock. Rolling Stone magazine described the first album thus: "The pure atmospheric power of the songs is more than enough to hypnotize." This is not nothing, and Grizzly Bear tickets are something to look for with seriousness, as their shows are rewarding and fun, with a creative edge that beats out much of the competition.
