Black Rebel Motorcycle Club take their name from Marlon Brando's motorcycle gang in the 1953 film The Wild One, and indeed some hard driving rock lies at the bottom of their original influences.

The band's earlier records blasted classic hard rock of the kind associated with Led Zeppelin, along with more melodic work having more in common with The Verve or The Jesus And Mary Chain. Their latest album, Howl, cranks out a more defined shape to their sound, but remains somewhat eclectic; blues, folk, and rock, are all evident, but the central mood of conflict and desire hasn't gone away, and probably won't, any time soon. The idea of attending a gig on a Black Rebel Motorcycle tour, even to manage to score tickets to Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, is a fantastic one indeed in the heady daze of this excellent band's career.
