The clever merging of east and west politics in Bloc Party's name allegedly means nothing in reality. The band has have been together since 2002, exhibiting monikers such as Superheroes of BMX, The Angel Range, Diet, and Union. Bloc Party was born when band members met each other again, after last seeing each other in high school, in 1999 at the Reading Festival. Soon after, they formed the band Union.
